The Alliance for Science is hosting an exciting and informative forum dedicated to the future of science communication.
This first-of-its-kind event will bring together global experts, policymakers, media leaders, indigenous knowledge holders, and grassroots advocates to tackle misinformation and enhance communication in critical areas: food security, global health, climate change, and energy.
The forum is structured around four flagship themes —Champions, Content, Culture, and Global Crises— to promote innovative approaches to science communication and sustainable development across the Global South.
Reflect on a decade of progress and honor key contributors.
Develop strategies to address misinformation in food security, health, climate, and energy.
Explore the transformative role of AI and digital platforms in science communication.
Recognize and support champions, including youth and women, driving positive change.
Bridge cultural narratives and indigenous wisdom with scientific advancements.
Engage stakeholders to co-create solutions and secure long-term support.
Quantum AI has the potential to transform industries, from clean energy to healthcare.
However, it raises urgent questions about ethics, governance, and its role in spreading or combating misinformation.
This session will explore strategies to address these challenges and integrate AI into decision-making processes responsibly.
Africa faces severe energy poverty, with nearly 600 million people lacking electricity, while Latin America and Asia make significant progress.
This session will examine solutions to expand energy access, promote renewable investments, and address the interconnected challenges of energy, climate, and development in the Global South.
Effective science communication requires trusted champions who respect cultural norms and traditions. This session will focus on building networks that integrate indigenous knowledge with scientific innovations, fostering trust and collaboration.
A highlight will be the launch of the Indigenous Science and Technology Initiative (ISTI) to enrich science advocacy
As geopolitical tensions rise; global alliances are crucial.
This session will spotlight the AFS Global Consortium, which is establishing hubs in Africa, Asia and Latin America to empower communities, advocate for science, and implement solutions to global challenges
Prominent thought leaders will share insights into the future of science communication, focusing on perspectives from the Global South. Industry leaders will showcase innovative approaches to data-driven communication, address the challenges of localizing content into indigenous languages, and outline strategies for creating a global network of science champions.
